Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Center Just Opened to Better Serve our Community with Professional Competence, Cutting-Edge Practice and Academic Excellence.

We continue to improve our facilities to better serve our community. Last week we held a festive ceremony to dedicate our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Department, headed by Prof. Samer Srouji, for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases, tumors and defects involving the bone and soft tissues of the mouth, jaws and facial structures.

In attendance at the ceremony were Dr. Tsvi Sheleg, Deputy Director of the Medical Center; Prof. Shlomo Zusman, the Director of the Dental Health Division at Israel's Ministry of Health; Michael Illouz, Chairman of the Board of the Friends of Galilee Medical Center, Galilee Medical Center department directors, staff members and other distinguished guests.

Prof. Samer Srouji: "We are proud to open the Center for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery with its state-of-the-art equipment and technologies. I thank Dr. Masad Barhoum, General Director of the Medical Center, and our administration, for their support, and the Friends of Galilee Medical Center, led by Ms. Raya Strauss Ben Dror, for its contribution. We have an outstanding skilled professional team of senior surgeons, specially trained surgeons, nurses and administrative staff backed by the full diagnostic and treatment resources of Galilee Medical Center.
 We are dedicated to providing the highest quality service to our community while emphasizing professional competence, up-to-date practice and academic excellence."

General Director of the GMC, Dr. Masad Barhoum, remarked, "Oral and maxillofacial surgery is an essential service and the opening of this center is a celebration for all the residents of the North.
 We work hard throughout the year to give professional and humane medical care to the community we serve in all fields.
 To that end we work to open new departments and units, obtain state of the art medical equipment to enable our professional medical team to provide the highest level and variety of medical services for our patients.
 I have no doubt that the Center for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, heralds a positive change for our patients. I thank the Ministry of Health for its cooperation and support in expanding our services in the periphery for the residents of the Galilee."

The center's opening ceremony was preceded by a national scientific conference dealing with facial and jaw surgery, oral medicine and dentistry, in which Prof. Zusman,
Dr. Sheleg, Prof. Srouji and the Chairman of the Israeli Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Dr. Eliezer Shulman; Deputy Dean of the Azrieli Faculty of Medicine at Bar-Ilan University in the Galilee and Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Galilee Medical Center, Prof. Jacob Bornstein, and Dr. Fakhri Hassan, Chairman of Arab Dentists Association in Israel, participated.

During the conference the lecturers included Dr. Fares Kablan, a Senior physician at the medical center and Dr. Yigal Granot, Director of our Oral Medicine Unit as well as 
Prof. Ruvia Bravo, Dean of the Faculty of Dental Medicine, University of Marcio,
Romania.
