On October 15, 2015, the Galilee Medical Center hosted a distinguished delegation from Sandy Springs, GA, USA which visited our region to formalize a Sister City Relationship with the Western Galilee Municipal Cluster.
Sandy Springs and the Western Galilee Cluster plan to collaborate in several spheres, including health and medicine, in order to foster economic and social cooperation between the two communities.
Mr. Russell K. Paul, the Mayor of Sandy Springs led an entourage which included the President of the Chamber of Commerce, the Director of Economic Development, the Executive Director of Hospitality and Tourism, city council members and other city leaders.
 Also present was Sivan Yechieli, Mayor of Kfar Vradim, Yael Ron C.E.O. of the Western Galilee Municipal Cluster, Matan Even-Zur, Projects Manager of the Western Galilee Municipal Cluster and Nir Messiqa, Projects Manager, Municipality of Kfar Vradim.

Dr. Masad Barhoum, Director General, of the Galilee Medical Center welcomed the guests and described the reality, mission and the vision of our hospital.
Dr. Tzvi Sheleg, Deputy Director General of the GMC, spoke about the GMC's high level of preparedness for mass casualty events since a focal point of the Sister City Agreement is emergency medicine.
The guests were also interested to hear about the Medical Center's humanitarian aid efforts on behalf of Syrian casualties and Dr. Sheleg's participation, along with other GMC doctors, in the Army's field hospitals in Nepal and Haiti.

The Sandy Springs visitors toured our hospital and were impressed by the New Protected Emergency Department, the Underground Hospital, and the range of medical services that the Medical Center provides to the multicultural and diverse community of Northern Israel.
The GMC looks forward to a fruitful cooperation with Sandy Springs which will ultimately promote the welfare of the people that the GMC serves.
