The Nahariya Hospital serves the entire population of the Western Galilee, including the Krayot (northern suburbs of Haifa) averaging 5,500 births annually.

The Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) treats preemies and newborns born in the hospital, and occasionally preemies and newborns transferred from other hospitals in the region. Additionally, preemies/newborns are transferred who require complex specific interventions in fields such as ophthalmology, pediatric nephrology, pediatric surgery, and pediatric urology.

The NICU is run by Dr. Vered Sheffer-Fleischer, a senior pediatrician with many years of experience.
